From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline including angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will split off from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then settled his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan knows the region and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could assist the group access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Explorers and Planners tables.
Viewers can expect discovering which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
